Applying the lens and methodology of a Hollywood film premier; this project attempts to recreate the celebrity driven, spectacle atmosphere of Hollywood’s seductive systems. In preparation for this, ‘EVENT OF A LIFETIME!’; I’ve created movie posters, merchandise, and have employed the assistance of my artist cohort in an attempt to simulate the ‘over the top’ attitude of a Hollywood premier. Being that I come from a middle/working class background, I see the Hollywood spectacle as a mediated deterrent from the reality of our cultural insufficiencies and an example of America’s issues with class separation. It is my motivation to create a spectacle that questions our culture’s need for “bigger-than-life” productions, while simultaneously positioning myself at the heart of the matter by becoming the center of the production.
