It is at first a commentary on urbanization and public housing. The notion of over urbanization is further reinforced by the absurdity of a concrete housing project for birds. This proposal for an aviary also signals urban prohibitions on animal freedom, and mankind’s’ obsession for development and growth in light of the economical recession. The Aviary housing project is linked to a current condominium development in the south loop-only a few blocks away-which will be the largest housing development in the south loop.
